The Strongest Candidate: KKE

Making a decision to raise a family in Graves County also means making a genuine, long-term commitment to ensure that our community consistently improves in every way. One critical way to assist Graves County toward positive, purposeful change is by rehabilitating our county's inmates and offenders. I have been so fortunate to have supervised two amazing jail substance abuse programs (156 beds) and multiple clinical staff. My hope is that our own community's inmates may be afforded similar opportunities to participate in programming that could be life-changing. When inmates learn new skills, they are better equipped to re-enter family life as well as society. When people are rehabilitated, everyone wins. Families are mended and rebuilt, and communities are safer, healthier, and happier.

I have 12+ years of experience working in Corrections - probation/parole offices, prisons, and jails - and 7 additional years of counseling and rehabilitating those with substance use disorders. While my resume might look a bit different from those who have previously served as Jailer, those who know me know that I work my hardest to fulfill my professional duties and obligations.

It's been many years since the operating costs of our jail did not financially burden the County. By offering various rehabilitative programs to inmates and through effective management and supervision, our jail could ultimately support its own operation. In my years working in Corrections and implementing and supervising programs for offenders, I have accrued the knowledge and experience necessary to create an environment where inmates can gain the skills and resources to be successful, productive members of society.

Here's a true saying from an old movie: "From the ashes of disaster come the roses of success." This is true for our Graves County Jail with regard to the tornado (i.e. ashes of disaster) and the potential for building a new jail that will be conducive to the programs and opportunities our inmates need to even have a chance at rehabilitation (i.e. roses of success).

I have chosen to submit my candidacy for Jailer of Graves County in hopes that I may continue to offer rehabilitative services to those in our community who need it most while ensuring the safety and security of our county's inmate population as well as correctional officers. I would be honored to have the opportunity to lead our Jail's staff toward professional self-fulfillment and our inmates toward a rewarding, successful, purposeful future.
